Rediff is playing it safe, very safe. They are not sticking their necks out with reviews of movies of big banners & star casts.
Recently they have adopted this trend of having ‘alternate’ (whatever that means) reviews of all big movies. Check these out:
Umrao Jaan: Good & Bad
Don: Good & Bad
Jaan-e-Mann: Good & Not-so-Bad
KANK: Good & Bad & Bad
The only movie that has two reviews and both are good is Lagey Raho Munnabhai: Good & Good
I need proper reviews of movies before I shell out money, not ‘alternate’ reviews.

The subjectivity of opinion, and all?
Now this is what i call a good survey. You seem to have an alternate career in research branches of marketing firms :).
Write a review for Departed … would like to write a big comment of my perspective since i wont write my own post (yeah .. i have given up blogging and since i have given up i am not going to write a post explaining that i have given up since that would just contradict and be a paradox .. weird .. i know
)
I have never trusted the reviews of any indian site. they are too biased to offer an unprejudiced perspective. Would rather go by IMDB’s rating, which is rather safe even though its is only a statistic.
Parry,
Leonardo did give a stellar performance and Nicholson gives ample proof of why he is considered one of the acting greats. And kunal, if you do write a review of ‘the departed’ i’ll certainly add more then.
I’ve seen ‘The Departed’. Its really really good but personally i feel its a little overrated on IMDB. Certainly not worth being in the top 100 especially because its a remake. Guess everyone gives it a higher rating because of the Scorsese effect
erimentha, yeah the rediff people are giving an altogether different meaning to subjectivity of opinion. they are not at all presenting any opinion!
paresh, do not worry about the paradoxes, the review is up .. waiting for your loooooooooooong comment
sreejith, IMDb is good, but not that good when it comes to a Hindi movie… and yeah I have written on Departed…
