Is rediff following ToI?

Why is rediff getting so cynical? I generally like the articles that are put up in rediff, well written and unbiased. But two articles stuck a wrong chord with me. Check these out:

On Agassi’s retirement

Agassi plays Serbian Boris Pashanski in the Wimbledon first round in what will be his final match at the grasscourt grand slam if he loses.

On Zidane

Zidane was booked in France’s first two games in the tournament and was suspended for the 2-0 win over Togo in their Group G decider, which would have been his last match had France failed to qualify.

The emphasis is mine…

I sure am odd…

I have an electric personality!! No seriously, I DO have an electric personality. Do not think I am gloating; even the electric department of every city in India thinks so. Otherwise how would you explain the fact that the minute I enter any place – my home at Raipur, the flat at Hyderabad – the electricity department decides to switch off the current at that moment – hoping that my electric personality would take care of the crisis :?

Everything would be perfect – soft songs would be playing on the computer, my room-mates would be sitting beneath the fan enjoying the cool breeze and the door-bell would chime; I would enter and BAM!! the current would disappear, the UPS would start beeping, begging to be switched off and we all start cursing. I do not think that day is far when my room-mates would see through the peep-hole and deny me entry :(

Well my weirdness does not end here. The rain too helps me in enhancing my eccentricity. Whenever I put on a new trouser or a new shirt, storm clouds would gather around to ogle at my new possession and there develops a strong cohesive force between the fabric and the rain. No matter how much I try to escape the sudden shower, I am always drenched – with both shelter & safety at an arm’s length.

So if I am wearing new clothes, always carry an umbrella and if you are my room-mates, sorry in advance since first you will get soaked to the skin and then on returning home, you would not find any current…

Small Things

It’s amazing that the smallest thing can spoil your mood or break confidence and it’s equally amazing that the most insignificant thing can get you back to your normal confident self in no time.

Your hands wrapped around a hot cup of coffee, gazing at the world from a distance, feeling the warmth of the coffee seep into you, all matters seem so insignificant. When viewed from a distance, when detached, all matters fall into line as per their priority.

Hitting an unbelievable shot at Table Tennis – even when you knew it was a fluke or simply winning a game can get the confidence soaring sky-high.

Or just driving along the road, with no one for company but yourself. A chain of thoughts is provoked and the worry that was lingering over your head passes by you.

Observing the clouds, making patterns in them… Feeling the raindrops on yourself…

Small things do matter in life.

Rooting for Ghana

In 1998 it was Croatia. In 2002 it was Korea. In 2006, I think, it would be Ghana – the underdog with a dream run. Both Croatia and Korea reached the semi-finals respectively in '98 and ‘02; I think Ghana will at least reach the quarterfinals this year. Hoping a lot from Asamoah and Essien.

Ghana takes on USA tonight, wishing for a victory for Ghana.

Note: Ghana is ranked #48 in the Official Fifa Rankings and they have already defeated the current #2 team – Czech Republic. Also they have conceded just 4 goals in their 12 qualifying matches.

I am a criminal :(

I have to admit it… I know rotten tomatoes and eggs will welcome me, but I have to admit it… I know that what I am committing is nothing short of blasphemy, it is a heinous crime; but I can't help it.

Let me just get it out of my system – I am humming along to a Himesh Reshamiya song. Yes, you read it right – I am humming along to a Himesh Reshamiya song.

I wish I could stop humming it, but am powerless…

"Ahista Ahista" has me by my lapels, great lyrics, very good tune, and very very bad singing… Just wish someone else (actually anyone else) could have sung the song.
